Assignment: Create Your First Post

Now that you’ve envisioned a theme and title for your blog, have set it up on WordPress.com and have analyzed your potential target audience, you’re ready to write your first post.

Remember, blog posts don’t have to be perfect. Sometimes it’s more important to get ideas out into the wild, if for nothing else to see if they resonate with people. You can always change it, replace it with a better post, or add more posts that elaborate on your first one. You might find it easier to break one post into smaller posts so that you can publish more frequently.

Instructions:

Step 1: Write a brief post (at least 4-5 paragraphs) introducing your new blog. Feel free to include visuals if they apply and are available. Make sure you don’t use visuals without getting permission from the creators.

Step 2: Post your content on your blog and make sure that it’s published. 

Step 3: Use the form below to share a link to your first post. In the title field follow this format:

Assignment Category-Post Title-First Initial-Last Name

e.g. First-Blog-Post-Help-Gerbils-Run-C-Holladay

In the summary field, include a brief description of what you’re submitting and include any questions. Point out areas for which you would like specific feedback. Create a link to your first post by selecting the text for the link and using the link icon to apply your blog’s url.
